PERMANENT
FUNDS MINISTRY
Ridgeview
Presbyterian Church provides a special giving option for its members or others
who feel called to stewardship with a monetary gift, which will be managed
through long-term funding. These gifts
can be made to commemorate special events in an individual’s life, in the life
of the church, as a part of the final disposition of an estate, or to support
specific needs in the church.
The Permanent
Funds Ministry was established in 2001, as a way of extending Ridgeview’s commitment
to the further work of Jesus Christ. The
Permanent Funds Ministry provided for the creation of four separate funds
within which gifts could be made. The
funds are administered by the Trustees of the church, under specific guidelines
outlined in the Permanent Funds Ministry Policy, and are invested and utilized
according to those same guidelines.
The four
funds are:
The General Endowment
Fund – this fund
will be invested in perpetuity, and the distributions will be split between the
Capital Facilities Fund and the Programs, Mission and Benevolence Funds.
The Designated
(Restricted) Endowment Fund – the principal of each of the designated funds will be invested in
perpetuity, and distributed only as specified by the donor of the gift.
The Capital Facilities
Fund – all
principal and income from this fund are available to be used for special,
capital projects that enhance the physical facilities, overall aesthetics
and/or safety of the church building(s), as well as any improvements beyond the
annual budget. Expenditures from this
fund require Session approval
The Programs, Mission and Benevolence Fund – the principal and income from
this fund are to be applied to special programs, extended missions and
extraordinary benevolences. Expenditures
from this fund require Session approval.
Gifts can
be “Restricted”, which allows the donor to designate not only the specific fund
into which their gift will be placed but also to indicate a specific use to
which their gift will be applied; or “Unrestricted”, which provides that the
gift will be allocated among all the funds according to the guidelines. Restricted gifts are subject to review by
the Trustees, to ensure that the purpose of each gift is within the policies
and commitment of Ridgeview Presbyterian Church.
